Landscaping Redesign

I've learned a valuable lesson this week. When one sets out to do a home project, be sure you know what you want. Yesterday I spent a few hours ripping out our back patio one heavy patio paver after another. At nearly seven pounds a stone and over 100 stones my back is not happy today.

We had put this patio up about 1.5 years ago and it was never quite right. The patio sloped down making a water spout when it rained. The edges of the patio were raised which created a tripping point and the location chosen meant that this blocked our view of the rest of our yard. I decided this is the spring to change things up and make them right. So, I ripped out the patio yesterday and stacked up all the materials. We'll try to sell them on Craigslist so they won't go to waste.

In this patio's place we'll be filling it in with more rock and changing out our foo foo wrought iron patio set for a much more family oriented picnic table and benches. My husband has quite the project list for this month including the picnic table, a potting bench and raised vegetable planters. It's work I hope will pay off when we have our own food to enjoy and share.
