It's truly turning towards spring around here and our first signs aren't blooms or butterflies. After giving up on the chickens through the dark, cold and snowy winter I was quite surprised when I checked the henhouse today and found not one but ten eggs waiting to be retrieved. There are at least two chickens back to business. I figure since chickens can sense daylight 45 minutes before humans that perhaps they are the true signal that spring is also headed here.
Our garden which is pretty barren and boring buried under snow is slowly emerging which means a lot of weekend projects are going on the list. From staining and spraying to pruning and planting thoughts of bulbs, bees and vegetables are creeping into my conscience. Though the warmth on my face feels good I know that winter will rear it's ugly head at least once more. So, in the meantime we are still getting geared up to build the greenhouse. I can't wait to show you all the one I picked.

My chickens have all begun laying again in the past 10 days too! I felt like a kid on Christmas when I discovered the first egg. I had noticed them "nesting" in the hen house for days prior, so I knew it was coming. Love those fresh eggs!
