DIY memo board....

This weekend I wanted to make something special for the girl's room. The room was recently redone with a beach theme as the girls are getting bigger. After having spent some time at the beach we had a bunch of great photos so the idea for a memo board came to mind. I really want to do this project for as little cost as possible and at just $3 for paint I'm pretty happy with the finished result.

The project started with a frame my friend found under her house. Her crawl space is a treasure trove of items belonging to the previous homeowners. She was kind enough to give me the frame with the hideous print inside. No, it's not an original and we can't retire. I had some leftover primer which requires no sanding. Hooray. I gave the frame a quick coat and then added my $3 paint sample of Parrot Feather by Ace. I lightly distressed the frame while the paint was still damp.

On the back of the frame I added nails down each side at three inch intervals. Some kitchen string was tied around the nails and I found some clothespins in my craft studio to attach the pictures. Overall I'm very happy with the project and it looks SO cute all filled up. I've removed pictures of the girls for their privacy (foster children). A simple project that is perfect for displaying photos, holiday cards, recipes or even seeds in a potting shed.
